Post Partum Care

Post partum care:

After childbirth a woman’s mind, body and spirit needs replenishing. The first month after labour is a crucial time for recovery.

Most of the extra energy we built up before labour has been used to give birth so now the body requires rest and care.

It is very common in the western culture to return back to work within a few weeks after birth but eastern culture use this time to rebuild the body back to optimal health.

“The Chinese perspective asks that we look to this time as one of rest and healing.”
Jani White, Naturechild, 2009.

Recovery:

Acupuncture promotes the body’s natural ability to heal. With plenty of rest, a nourishing diet, relaxation, as much sleep as possible, gentle exercise and acupuncture, a woman will recover faster and notice the difference in her body’s ability further down the track.

After labour a woman’s hormones will be out of balance, this can be treated with acupuncture. By getting the body in alignment we prevent more serious disharmonies in the future.

Emotionally during the first few weeks it can be difficult for some mothers. The extremes are so great. This will settle with the assistance of acupuncture and the holistic advice given by Nadja.
